Bio

Greg Vaughan has been making music for over 35 years, recording his first album in 1985, and making his living by performing and recording. He started playing piano when he was 7 years old and studied classical piano and theory until he was 17. While he started his career in Christian music he gradually created his own sound bridging into pop music from huge influences such as Elton John, Supertramp, Gordon Lightfoot, and Phil Keaggy. His vinyl collection actually suggests hundreds of influences!

The piano is Greg’s first love and his music is keys-based, recording his piano-based instrumental music on a Yamaha grand piano. His music has a soulful, melancholy flavour that takes the listener on an emotional journey.

Greg has recorded 5 albums and has performed in churches and at weddings, special events and restaurants over the years. In 1989 he opened his own studio where he produced and engineered albums and demo's for other artists ranging from rock bands, country, new age, instrumental, pop, and gospel.

He began songwriting in his teens and all of his albums contain primarily original songs. His experience includes a Director of worship role in a large urban church, as well as acting as a consultant to churches in the areas of sound engineering and setting up sound systems.

Greg co-writes with his wife, Ingrid. Three of their songs won prizes in two international songwriting competitions, winning studio time at the famous Greenhouse Studio in Vancouver, BC. Greg has fronted for Sheila Walsh and performed at an international Billy Graham sponsored Crusade.

Currently Greg is focusing on music for Film and TV.  In spite of what school teachers may have told him, he is a keen learner and constantly challenges himself to listen to and create music that is outside of his genre, recently branching out to tension cues, orchestral arrangements and upbeat instrumental tracks.

Greg lives in Victoria, BC with his wife. He has two grown daughters, a dog, cat and fish. Greg is a member of Taxi and Socan.
